Maharaja Ram Singh

Maharaja Ram Singh (born, 1873 – death, 1929) (महाराजा राम सिंह, भरतपुर) was the ruler of princely state Bharatpur (1893 - 1900) and successor of Maharaja Jaswant Singh.

He was born at Lohagarh, Bharatpur on 21st September 1873, as second son of Maharaja Jaswant Singh by his second wife, Maharani Darya Kaur. He succeeded on the death of his father on 12th December 1893. He ascended the gadi on 25th December 1893.

Some of his advisors were not competent and well wishers of the people. Historians believe that he had no self-control due to which his health deteriorated. His ruling powers were suspended on 10th August 1900 after the murder of one of his personal servants, the barber. After an enquiry he was deposed and exiled to Agra on 27th August 1900.

He was married to first at Lohagarh, Bharatpur on 17th April 1884 to Maharani Kishan Kaur, a daughter of a Zamindar of Tepera, in the Aligarh district. His second marriage was with Maharani Girraj Kaur on 1 January 1918.

He had two sons and one daughter: Sons were 1. Maharaja Kishan Singh 2. Rao Raja Giriraj Singh. Daughter: Gokul Kaur.

He died in exile at Agra in September 1929.

His successor was Maharani Girraj Kaur.

महाराज रामसिंह

ठाकुर देशराज लिखते हैं कि महाराज यशवन्तसिंह की मृत्यु के पीछे उनके ज्येष्ठ पुत्र राज सिंहासन पर विराजे। 25 दिसम्बर सन् 1893 ई. को उनका राज-तिलक हुआ। इनके सहकारियों में कुछ अयोग्य लोग प्रविष्ट हो गए जो प्रजा के शुभ-चिन्तक की अपेक्षा अहितकारी थे। संयमी न होने के कारण उनका स्वास्थ्य बिगड़ गया था, ऐसा इतिहासकार मानते हैं। सन् 1900 ई. में महाराज रामसिंह ने एक नाई को गोली से मार दिया। इसी घटना से आपको अंग्रेजी सरकार ने गद्दी से हटाकर देहली की छावनी में भेज दिया। इनके दो सुपुत्र हुए थे। एक स्वनाम-धन्य महाराज श्री कृष्णसिंह और दूसरे कुंवर गिरराजसिंह ।

सन् 1922 ई. में आप देवली से आगरा आ गए थे और कोठी भरतपुर में रहते थे। सन् 1929 ई. में आपका स्वर्गवास हो गया।
