विजयेन्द्र कुमार माथुर[1] ने लेख किया है ...अपरकाशि (AS, p.25) महाभारत में वर्णित है। गंगा-गोमती के बीच का प्रदेश प्राचीन काल में काशी महाजनपद कहलाता था। अपरकाशि इस प्रदेश का पश्चिम भाग था। ( वा. श. अग्रवाल का कांदबिनी, अक्तूबर 62 में प्रकाशित लेख)
