Jagunda (जगुन्दा) gotra Jats live in Tonk district in Rajasthan.

Origin

They have originated from The Mahabharata Tribe - Jaguda (जागुड).

Vana Parva, Mahabharata/Book III Chapter 48 describes Rajasuya sacrifice of Yudhisthira attended by the chiefs of many islands and countries. Jaguda (जागुडा) is mentioned in Mahabharata (III.48.21).[1] ...the Harahunas and Chinas and Tukharas and the Saindhavas and the Jagudas and the Ramathas and the Mundas and the inhabitants of the kingdom of women (Strirajya) and the Tanganas and the Kekayas and the Malavas and the inhabitants of Kasmira...

History

The Mahabharata Tribe - Jaguda (जागुड) - Probably were from the region south of Ghazni and north of Kandhar (III.48.21).

Bhim Singh Dahiya [2] equates them with the present Jakhar clan of Jats.

About Jaguda - MBT says that they were a saffron growing people.[3] That places them in the north of Kashmir or beyond, further in the north, i.e. in Central Asian region of Balkh, famous for its saffron since ages. They are the Jakhad clan people. [4]
