Vyadi (व्याडि) is name of a Country mentioned by Panini in Ashtadhyayi under Gahadi (गहादि) (4.2.138) group. [1] Dr Naval Viyogi[2] notes that after Panini Vyādi was a great grammarian.

Mention by Panini

Vyadi (व्याडि) is mentioned by Panini in Ashtadhyayi. [3]

History

Dr Naval Viyogi[4] notes that after Panini Vyādi was a great grammarian. As such both would have a gap of two generations. The story in the initial book of the several versions of the Brahatkatha would make Vyadi and Vararuchi class fellows and friends.[5] It seems from the above facts that Vararuchi was the contemporary of Nanda Kings and of the pre-Mauryan age.

Jat History

Thakur Deshraj mentions Byadi (ब्याड़ी) as contemporary of Chandragupta.[6]

In Mahabharata

Shalya Parva, Mahabharata/Book IX Chapter 44 gives the ceremony for investing Kartikeya with the status of generalissimo, the diverse gods, various clans who joined it. Vyadi (व्यादि) is listed in verse (IX.44.103) [7]
