Shilakuta (शीलकूट) was the name of summit of the Misraka Parvata in Sri Lanka mentioned in Mahavansha. It is at present northern peak of Mihintale in Sri Lanka. [1]

The summit of the Missakapabbata in Ambatthala. It was there that Mahinda alighted on his arrival in Ceylon (Mhv.xiii.20). In the time of Kakusandha Buddha, it was called Devakuta; in the time of Konagamana, Sumanakuta; in the time of Kassapa, Subhakuta. Dpv.xvii.14.[2][3]

In Mahavansha

Mahavansa/Chapter 13 mentions about The Coming of Mahinda. ....When he (Mahinda) had stayed there a month the thera, on the uposatha-day of the month Jettha, with the four theras and Sumana, and the lay-disciple Bhanduka also, to the end that they might be known for human beings, rose up in the air (and departed) from that vihara; and he, the (thera) of wondrous powers, coming hither with his following alighted on the pleasant Missaka-mountain, on the Sila-peak on the open and fair Ambatthala.

शीलकूट

शीलकूट (AS, p.903) लंका का एक पर्वत। महावंश 13,18,20 मे इसे मिश्रिक पर्वत का शिखर कहा गया है। यह वर्तमान मिहिताल की पहाड़ी का उत्तरी शिखर है। [4]
