== Introduction in his own words ==
I,Raj Kumar was born on Aug-6,1956 at Village-[[Asafpur Kharkhari ]], P.O.-Baraut (Baghpat) U.P. in a reputed family, youngest son of Sh.Pritam Singh ([[Lakda]]). My mother Mrs. Vidyavati, belonged to the reputed and educated Salkalan family of Saharanpur.  My maternal grand father, Mr. Sarvajit Singh, was working as an Inspector of police during the English period (it was a matter of time when a constable came to the village entire village emptied) and the elder maternal uncle, Mr. Sarvadaman Singh was a top criminal lawyer (Muzaffarnagar) of UP, practiced with Pt. Motilal Nehru. After independence, Pt. Motilal Nehru offered a seat of Member of Parliament, to Mamaji, but he refused.  
My father left us in 2006, while mother left me when I was only 2 years old.

== Education and Career ==
I, did my M.Sc. botany (1978) & Ph.D.(1995) from JV College Baraut (Meerut University). I, served as ASPO in TDC in 1980, Bio.Lecturer in Muzaffarnagar district(1983-85). I, joined IARI as a tech. asstt. through a competitive exam (1986). I got three timely promotions there and finally in 1997, I, joined as Scientist of ARS (Agricultural Research Services-Competitive exam of National Repute), and worked there for 21 more years. During my Scientific carrier I was dedicated to Mustard, hence contributed in development of eight mustard and two pearl-millet varieties. I, also worked for “Maintenance Breeding for Nucleus Seed Production of field crops” and “Pre and post-harvest research in development of quality seed”. I, had met 50% chunk of national breeder seed indent of mustard. Inspite of, I had published 13 Research papers,
18 Popular articles, participated in more than 35 National conference/work shops. Several radio & tv talk along with several awards.

== Family ==
We are six brothers and two sisters.
My Eldest brother Sh. Ashok Kumar  served as a teacher in JV College, Baraut along with other social positions eg “Pradhan” of Village for 15 years, “President” of teachers association of Meerut. 2nd eldest brother “Captain” SS Chauhan, served in Army and got Sena medal in 1971, he fought 3 wars i.e. 1962, 1965 & 1971. Unfortunately he demised in 1974 at the age of 30yrs. 3rd brother Sh.Vinod Kumar takes over charge of farming. 4th one Sh.VK Chauhan served in National Seeds Corporation as “Regional Manager” and general secretary of association. 5th Sh.Ajay Kumar again help in farming. I have two sisters, Usha Solanki married to Mr VS Solanki (General manager, Retd. in Baheri Sugar Mills) and Poonam Malik was married to Late Mr MS Malik (Chief Chemist, CO Operative Sugar mills UP) both are well settled in Meerut. 

I have 2 children. My son, is a textile engineer and he did his MBA from Canada, married to Dr Shveta D/O Col. VS Bhalothia. Being health conscious, both are now dedicated to yoga and pursuing a career in this field. My daughter Garima Singh (Comp.Engg) married to Anupam Singh, who is also a Comp. Engg., living in Sydney (Australia). With, immense grace of God, on July-5, 2020, a child named “Dharv” is born to my son,s family and “Aditya” came to my daughter,s family on Oct.-17, 2020.
Now, I am living happily retired life along with my wife Sunita (Residence: 39,Ranjit enclave,Karnal) and try to help farmers as and when needed.

== जीवन परिचय ==

मैं, राज कुमार का जन्म अगस्त-6,1956 को गाँव: खड़खड़ी, ड़ा-बड़ौत (बागपत) उ.प्र. क्षेत्र के एक प्रतिष्ठित चौहान (लाकड़ा) परिवार में, श्री प्रीतम सिंह के सबसे छोटे पुत्र के रूप में हुआ। मेरी माता जी श्रीमति विद्यावती सहारनपुर के अति प्रतिष्ठित एवं शिक्षित सलकलान परिवार से तालुक रखती थी। मेरे नाना श्री सर्वजीत सिंह अंग़्रेज़ी काल में दरोग़ा के पद पर कार्यरत रहे (यह उस समय की बात है जब एक सिपाही के गाँव में आने से ही गाँव ख़ाली हो जाता था) व बड़े मामा श्री सर्वदमन सिंह मुज़फ़्फ़रनगर में, उ.प्र. के चोटी के फ़ौजदारी के वकील थे जिन्होंने प.मोतीलाल नेहरू के साथ वकालत की प्रैक्टिस की थी। आज़ादी के बाद प.मोतीलाल नेहरू जी ने मामाजी को सांसद के टिकट की भी पेशकश की थी लेकिन उन्होंने मना कर दिया था।  मेरे पिता ने 2006 में हमें छोड़ दिया, जबकि माँ ने मुझे तब छोड़ दिया था जब मैं केवल 2 वर्ष का था।

== शिक्षा एवं व्यवसाय ==

मैंने, एम.एससी.बॉटनी (1978), पीएच.डी. (1995) में जाट कॉलेज बड़ौत (मेरठ विश्व विधयालय) से की। उसके बाद 1980 में TDC,पंतनगर में सहायक बीज उत्पादन अधिकारी के रूप में कार्य किया। फिर बीएड़ (1983) में करने के बाद मुजफ्फरनगर ज़िले के कुरालसी में दो साल तक बायोलोजी लेक्चरर के रूप में कार्य किया। 1986 में, पूसा में एक प्रतियोगी परीक्षा के माध्यम से तकनीकि सहायक के रूप में मेरी नियुक्ति हुई। तीन पदोन्नति के बाद 1997 में, मैंने ARS (कृषि अनुसंधान सेवा) की एक राष्ट्रीय प्रतियोगिता परीक्षा पास की, और वैज्ञानिक संवर्ग में 21 ओर वर्षों तक चार पदोन्नति लेकर 2018 में प्रधान वैज्ञानिक के पद से सेवानिव्रत हुआ।

अपने वैज्ञानिक काल के 21 साल के कैरियर के दौरान मैं सरसों के लिए समर्पित था, इसलिए मैंने आठ सरसों की और दो बाजरा की किस्मों के विकास में योगदान दिया। मैंने “न्यूक्लियस सीड प्रोडक्शन के लिए मेंटेनेंस ब्रीडिंग फॉर फील्ड क्रॉप्स” और “प्री-एंड पोस्ट हार्वेस्ट रिसर्च” में काम किया। गुणवत्तापूर्ण बीज का विकास ही मेरा उद्देश्य था।  सरसों की किस्मों के “राष्ट्रीय ब्रीडर सीड इंडेंट” का पूरे भारत का 50% हिस्सा मैंने अपने समय में उत्पादित किया। इसके अलावा, मेरे 13 शोध पत्र, 18 लोकप्रिय लेख प्रकाशित हुए। 35 से अधिक राष्ट्रीय सम्मेलन / कार्यशालाओं में भाग लिया। कई राष्ट्रीय पुरस्कारों के साथ कई रेडियो और टीवी वार्तायें भी की।

== परिवार ==
हम छः भाई और दो बहने हैं। मेरे सबसे बड़े भाई श्री अशोक कुमार ने जाट कॉलेज, बड़ौत में शिक्षक के रूप में काम किया, साथ ही 15 वर्षों तक गाँव के प्रधान रहे, मेरठ के शिक्षक संघ के जिलाध्यक्ष के रूप में भी अपनी सेवाएँ दी। दूसरे नम्बर के भाई कैप्टन एसएस चौहान, सेना में कार्यरत थे और 1971 में सेना पदक प्राप्त किया, उन्होंने 3 युद्ध 1962,1965 और 1971 लड़े, दुर्भाग्यवश उनका 1974 में 30 वर्ष की आयु में बीमारी से निधन हो गया था। तीसरे भाई श्री विनोद कुमार खेती का काम संभालते रहे। चौथे श्री वी के चौहान ने राष्ट्रीय बीज निगम में क्षेत्रीय प्रबंधक के रूप में कार्य किया।पाँचवे भाई श्री अजय कुमार फिर से खेती में मदद करते रहे। मेरी दो बहनें हैं, उषा सोलंकी और पूनम मलिक, मेरे बड़े बहनोई श्री वीरेंद्र सिंह सोलंकी बहेडी, उ.प्र. गन्ना मिल में जनरल मैनेजर के पद से रिटायर हुए हैं।दूसरे बहनोई श्री महिपाल सिंह मलिक सहकारी चीनी मिल में चीफ़ केमिस्ट के पद से रिटायर हुए थे बदक़िस्मती से वो आज हमारे बीच नहीं हैं।दोनों के परिवार मेरठ में अच्छी तरह से बसे हुऐ हैं।

मेरी दो सन्तान हैं।मेरा पुत्र विनायक चौहान, टेक्सटाइल इंजीनियर के बाद कनाडा से एमबीए किया हुआ है, उसका विवाह कर्नल वीएस भलोठिया की पुत्री ड़ा श्वेता (दंत चिकित्सक) के साथ हुआ है। स्वास्थ्य के प्रति अत्यधिक जागरूक होने के नाते दोनो योगा में कैरियर बनाने के प्रति समर्पित हैं। बेटी गरिमा सिंह (कम्प्यूटर इंजीनियर) का विवाह अनुपम सिंह पुत्र ड़ा मदनपाल सिंह प्रधान वैज्ञानिक पूसा (कम्प्यूटर इंजीनियर) के साथ हुआ है। दोनो आस्ट्रेलिया के शहर सिड्नी में  रहतें हैं।भगवान की असीम अनुकंपा से 5 जुलाई 2020 को बेटे के परिवार में “धर्व” के रूप में एक बेटा आया है। बेटी के यहाँ भी 17 अक्टूबर 2020 को बेटे के रूप में “आदित्य” आया है।

रिटायरमेंट के बाद मैं अपनी पत्नी सुनीता के साथ सुख पूर्वक करनाल (39,रंजित एंकलेव,करनाल) में रह रहा हूँ तथा यथासंभव किसानो की मदद करने को तत्पर रहता हूँ।
