Asifabad (आसिफाबाद) is a town and district of Asifabad district in the Indian state of Telangana. Asifabad is located at 19.365°N 79.274°E.

History
In Asifabad is a 16th century temple constructed in Indo-Aryan style. West of the military quarters archaeological operations have brought to light wood-fossils dating from the prehistoric period. At Gangapur in Asifabad taluqa 15th century Vaishnavite temple is a notable monument. A similar Vaishnavite temple of 17th century can be seen at Jainad in the same taluq.[1]

विजयेन्द्र कुमार माथुर[2] ने लेख किया है ...आसिफ़ाबाद (AS, p.72) आंध्र प्रदेश में स्थित एक ऐतिहासिक स्थान है। आसिफ़ाबाद में 16वीं शती का शुद्ध भारतीय शैली में बना हुआ एक मंदिर है। उत्खनन द्वारा प्रागैतिहासिक काल के अनेक काष्ठ जीवाश्म (फॉसिल) भी प्राप्त हुए हैं।
