Barnawapara Wildlife Sanctuary

Barnawapara Wildlife Sanctuary is located in Mahasamund district of Chhattisgarh. It was established in 1976 under the Wildlife Protection Act. It is located on Ram Van Gaman Path.
Origin
The Barnawapara Wildlife Sanctuary is named after the twin forest villages of Bar and Nawapara located in the sanctuary.[1][2]

Geography
The sanctuary is spread over an area of about 245 square km.[3] The Jonk River, a tributary of the Mahanadi river, flows through the sanctuary, and is bisected by a number other of streams and rivulets, besides numerous watering holes.[4][5] The tributaries of Mahanadi are the source of water here. Balamdehi River forms the western boundary and Jonk River forms the north-eastern boundary of the Sanctuary. It is a land mass of undulating terrain dotted with numerous low and high hillocks.[6]
बारनवापारा वन्य अभयारण्य
बारनवापारा वन्य अभयारण्य भारत के छत्तीसगढ़ राज्य के महासमुन्द ज़िले में स्थित एक वन्य अभयारण्य है। यह राज्य की राजधानी, रायपुर, से 100 किमी और ज़िले के मुख्यालय, महासमुन्द, से 45 किमी दूर है। इसकी स्थापना सन् 1976 में की गई थी। जोंक नदी, जो महानदी की एक उपनदी है, इस अभयारण्य में बहती है। इस अभयारण्य का नाम इसमें स्थित बार और नवापारा नामक दो ग्रामों पर पड़ा है।
