Bhojbasa
Bhojbasa (भोजबासा) is a scenic spot on the rugged terrains, situated at an altitude of 3,775 mts above sea level in Uttarkashi district in the state of Uttarakhand, India.

Bhojbasa can be reached by 14 kms trek that starts from Gangotri. The trek goes through rugged terrains along with the Bhagirathi River. It is situated 5 km before Gaumukh Galacier. [1]
History
Bhojbasa is a picturesque spot on the rough terrains, arranged at a height of 3,775 mts above ocean level. Bhojbasa can be reached by a 14 kms trek that begins from Gangotri. The trek experiences tough territories alongside the Bhagirathi River. Bhojwasa is the last and the only point of accommodation on the trek to the sacred Gaumukh Glacier. It is arranged 5 kms before Gaumukh Glacier, the source or origin of the Ganges. This lovely place offers captivating perspectives of the Bhagirathi crests (6,856 mts). The Bhagirathi sisters hold the Gangotri ice sheet. Transports to Uttarkashi and Gangotri are very easily available from Dehradun Haridwar and Rishikesh. Bhojwasa can also be reached by a 14 km simple trek on rough territory. Lal Baba Ashram and GMVN Bhojbasa Tourist Rest House provide accomodation and food in Bhojwasa.
Gomukh trek
The first and foremost thing for Gomukh trek is that you must have permission from (D.F.O.) District forest officer, Uttarkashi. The trail to Gomukh begins from Gangotri, about 19 km from Gomukh.
9 km ahead of Gangotri is Chirbasa, the abode of Chir trees. After 3 km of Chirbasa comes the dangerous Gila Pahar, the place well known for its landslides. Here the Bharals, a type of mountain antelope, are sometimes seen. The Bharals are found above the altitude of 10,000 ft. Only 4 km from here is Bhujbasa, the only night halting place on the way with buildings. One can stay at the GMVN Bungalow, or at the Lalbaba's Ashram or at Ram Baba's ashram. After trekking 4 km from Bhujbasa, one reaches Gomukh, the snout of the Gangotri Glacier. A little before Gomukh, the majestic view of Shivling welcomes the trekkers to the place.
On the trail no horses are allowed, so one must take preparations to walk on foot. The trek to Tapovan and Nandanvan starts from here.
The route after 'Bhojbasa' can be quite difficult, more so since the 2013 floods. One has to cross a boulder zone to reach the Gomukh snout.
The trek beyond Gomukh is quite difficult. Crossing the glacier and going towards Tapovan has become quite dangerous nowadays because of the landslides.
भोजबासा
भोजबासा: भोजपत्र पेड़ों की अधिकता के कारण भोजबासा गंगोत्री से 14 किलोमीटर दूर और गौमुख से 5 किमी पहले पड़ताहै। समुद्र तल से 3,775 मीटर ऊँचाई पर स्थित है। यह जाट गंगा तथा भागीरथी नदी के संगम पर है। गौमुख जाते हुए इसका उपयोग पड़ाव की तरह होता है। मूल रूप से लाल बाबा द्वारा निर्मित एक आश्रम में मुफ्त भोजन का लंगर चलाता है तथा गढ़वाल मंडल विकास निगम का गृह, आवास प्रदान करता है।[2][3]
भोजवासा परिचय
उत्तराखंड राज्य के उत्तरकाशी जिले के गोमुख में स्थित भोजवासा, बीहड़ इलाकों पर एक सुंदर स्थान है, जो समुद्र तल से 3,775 मीटर की ऊंचाई पर स्थित है। गंगोत्री से भोजवासा तक लगभग 14 किलोमीटर की दूरी पैदल तय की जाती जाती है ट्रेक के दौरान आप प्रकृति का सुन्दर नजारा देख सकते हैं | यह ट्रेक बीहड़ इलाकों से होते हुए भागीरथी नदी तक जाता है। भोजवासा पवित्र रास्ते पर आवास के अंतिम बिंदु के रूप में कार्य करता है। यहाँ आप टेंट लगाकर आराम से रह सकते हैं | यह गंगा नदी के उद्गम स्थल गोमुख से 5 किलोमीटर पहले स्थित है। यह खूबसूरत जगह भागीरथी चोटियों (6,856 मीटर) के मनमोहक दृश्य प्रस्तुत करती है।
भोजवासा से लगभग 4 किलोमीटर की दूरी पर स्थित है चिरबासा। चिरबासा समुद्रतल से लगभग (3,380 मीटर की ऊंचाई) में स्थित हैं चिरबासा का शाब्दिक अर्थ ‘चीर या देवदार के पेड़ों का निवास’ है। चिरबासा में काफी मात्रा में चिड, देवदार के पेड़ पाए जाने के कारण इसका नाम चिरबासा पड़ा| चिरबासा से भोजबासा तक का रास्ता खतरनाक चट्टानों के कारण खतरनाक हो सकता है। भोजबासा को भोजवासा भी लिखा जाता है। भोजबासा घाटी में भूमि का एक विशाल खुला मैदान है। यहाँ पर्यटक काफी खुशहाल पल बिता सकते हैं|
इस ट्रेक के दौरान दिखाई देने वाली हिमालय की चोटियाँ शिवलिंग, थालय सागर, मेरु, भागीरथी आदि हैं।
भोजवासा जाते समय आप पवित्र गंगोत्री मंदिर के दर्शन कर सकते हैं। इस क्षेत्र में कई मध्यम और ज़ोरदार ट्रेकिंग विकल्प हैं। भोजवासा जाने वाले मार्ग पर आप गौमुख और नंदनवन ट्रेक के लिए जा सकते हैं। यहाँ से आप लगभग 18 किलोमीटर की दूरी में स्थित गोमोत्र भी जा सकते हैं| भोजवासा जाते हुए आप हरसिल जा सकते है यह क्षेत्र का एक लोकप्रिय स्थान है यहाँ ट्रेकिंग की आवश्यकता नहीं है।
