Chandkhuri

Chandkhuri (चंदखुरी) village around 27km away from Raipur in Chhattisgarh. It is site of Mata Kaushalya temple and believed to be the birth place of Mata Kaushalya. It is located on Ram Van Gaman Path.
Location
The Mata Kaushalya temple is located around 22km to 27km away from the Capital City Raipur in Chhattisgarh State. The temple is located in the middle of a lake surrounded by the Chadkhuri village. The temple is accessed by walking on the bridge called Hanuman Pul which has a statue of Hanuman over it.
Mata Kaushalya temple
Mata Kaushalya temple is a Hindu temple, dedicated to Mata Kaushalya, mother of Lord Rama. It is the only temple in the world dedicated to Mata Kaushalya.[1] It is located at Chandkhuri village around 27km away from Raipur in Chhattisgarh.[2]
Description
The temple has the idol of Mata Kaushalya holding Lord Shri Rama in her lap. The temple is believed to have been constructed in the 8th century. The temple had been damaged and rebuilt many times. In 1973, the temple was renovated.
Ram Van Gaman Path
The connection between Chhattisgarh and Lord Ram is deeply-rooted as it is the birthplace of Mata Kaushalya. Chhattisgarh is the maternal house of Lord Rama. It is said that, during his exile (Vanavas), he spent a great amount of time in the woods of this province which was earlier known as Dandakaranya.[3]
Owing to the great mythological significance of the state, Current Chief Minister, Bhupesh Baghel initiated the exemplary project, 'Ram Van Gaman Path'. This is a tourist circuit that aims to connect all the places where Shri Ram halted during his exile. Mata Kaushalya Temple in Chandkhuri is the first place where the development work was initiated in October 2021. This temple is being restored while keeping its originality intact.[4]
माता कौशल्या का मंदिर, चंदखुरी
चंदखुरी, छत्तीसगढ़ की राजधानी रायपुर से 27 किलोमीटर की दूरी पर स्थित एक गांव है। इसे भगवान राम की माता कौशल्या जी का जन्म स्थान माना जाता है। गांव के जलसेन तालाब के बीचोंबीच माता कौशल्या का मंदिर बना हुआ है, जिसमें भगवान श्रीराम की माता की गोद में बैठे हुए मूर्ति है। महिलाओं को इस मंदिर में प्रवेश की इजाजत नहीं थी। इसके पीछे मान्यता थी कि यहां भगवान राम एक बच्चे की तरह मां की गोद हैं, ऐसे में अन्य महिलाएं यहां आकर भगवान श्री राम को नजर लगा देंगी। परंतु, बीतते वक्त के बाद महिलाओं को भी प्रवेश की इजाजत मिल गयी।
इतिहास: यह मंदिर 8वीं शताब्दी में सोमवंशी राजाओं के द्वारा बनवाया गया था। लोक कथाओं के अनुसार यहां राजा को माता कौशल्या ने सपने में दर्शन दे कर कहा कि वो इस स्थान पर हैं। राजा ने अपने लोगों से उस जगह पर खुदाई कराई। इस खुदाई में मिली मूर्ति को भव्य मंदिर बनवाकर उसमें स्थापित कराया गया। 1973 में इस मंदिर का जीर्णोद्धार कराया गया था।
इस गांव को औषधि ग्राम या वैद्य चंदखुरी भी कहा जाता है। इसके पीछे मान्यता है कि यहां सुषेण वैद्य का आश्रम था। गांव में सुषेन वैद्य का मंदिर बना है, जिसमें एक बड़ा पत्थर भी रखा है, ऐसा माना जाता है कि सुषेण वैद्य इसी पत्थर पर बैठा करते थे।
