Chitreshwar (चित्रेश्वर) is a small Village in Bahragora Block in East Singhbhum District of Jharkhand State, India.

चित्रेश्वर (Chitreshwar) भारत के झारखण्ड राज्य के पूर्वी सिंहभूम ज़िले में स्थित एक गाँव है।
चित्रेश्वर मंदिर
चित्रेश्वर मंदिर, चित्रेश्वर गाँव में, भारत में सबसे बड़ा प्राकृतिक शिव लिंग है, हालाँकि बहुत से लोगों को इसकी जानकारी नहीं है। अगला सबसे बड़ा भुवनेश्वर में लिंगराज मंदिर में है । वर्तमान मंदिर 10 वीं शताब्दी का है और इसे उड़ीसा के सोम वामसी या केशरी वंश द्वारा बनाया गया था। यह मंदिर उड़ीसा मंदिर वास्तुकला में बनाया गया था। परंपरागत रूप से लगभग 3000 वर्ष पुराना माना जाता है और स्कंध पुराण के उत्कल खंड में इसका उल्लेख मिलता है।
ऐसा माना जाता है कि यहां की गई सभी मनोकामनाएं पूरी होती हैं और भगवान शिव अपने भक्तों की मनोकामनाएं पूरी करते हैं। हर साल फरवरी या मार्च के दौरान महा शिवरात्रि या शिव चतुर्दशी त्योहार के दिन, भगवान शिव के भक्त दूर-दूर से भगवान की पूजा करने आते हैं। यह आयोजन सालाना कुछ हजार लोगों को आकर्षित करता है। इस समय एक विशाल "मेला" या मेला आयोजित किया जाता है। इस अवसर पर भक्त " जीभ भेदी " करते हैं। गांव के पास से गुजरने वाली "सुवर्णरेखा" नदी भी है। इस गांव के लोगों द्वारा यह माना और देखा जाता है कि इस "सुवर्णरेखा" नदी के तट पर सोना तैरता है।
चित्रेश्वर मंदिर भगवान शिव को समर्पित एक प्राचीन मंदिर है। यह चित्रेश्वर में स्थित है, जो चाकुलिया रेलवे स्टेशन से 55 किमी दूर है। बहरागोरा शहर यहां से 12 किमी दूर है। शिव चतुर्दशी के दिन मंदिर में एक लोकप्रिय मेला आयोजित किया जाता है। कई स्थानों से भक्त, विशेष रूप से मिदनापुर (पश्चिम बंगाल) और मयूरभंज (उड़ीसा) जिलों के सीमावर्ती गांवों से यहां इकट्ठा होते हैं।[2]
3000 साल पुराना है चित्रेश्वर शिव मंदिर
तीन राज्यों के संगम स्थल बहरागोड़ा से 12 किमी दूर बंगाल - ओडिशा की सीमा से सटे चित्रेश्वर में भगवान शिव का प्राचीन मंदिर है। एक ऐसा मंदिर जहां 365 दिन पूजा करने तीनों राज्य झारखंड, बंगाल व ओडिशा से श्रद्धालु आते हैं। मंदिर कब और किसने बनवाया यह बताने वाला कोई नहीं है। मंदिर से संबंधित ऐतिहासिक साक्ष्य का अभाव है। लेकिन, स्थानीय बुजुर्गों का मानना है कि लगभग 3000 हजार वर्ष पहले यहां शिव¨लग की पूजा प्रारंभ हुई थी। आजादी से पहले तक यह क्षेत्र धालभूम स्टेट के अधीन रहा। पश्चिम बंगाल के गोपीवल्लभपुर क्षेत्र के शासक और धालभूम शासक के बीच मंदिर पर अधिकार को लेकर बराबर संघर्ष होता रहता था। लोगों की मान्यता है कि दोनों के संघर्ष से उत्पन्न नाराजगी के चलते शिवलिंग दो टुकड़ों में हो गया। आज भी उसी खंडित शिवलिंग की ही पूजा-अर्चना होती है। चित्रेश्वर शिव मंदिर में स्थायी अथवा मुख्य पुजारी जैसी कोई प्रथा नहीं है। विभिन्न ब्राह्मण परिवार के पुजारी जिनके पूर्वज भी यहां पूजा-अर्चना करवाते थे, उनके द्वारा ही पूजा कार्य जारी है। यहां सात-आठ पुजारी हैं जो श्रद्धालुओं के पहुंचने पर उन्हें मंदिर में प्रवेश कराकर पूजा कराते हैं। अन्य जगहों पर श्रावण एक माह का ही होता लेकिन चित्रेश्वरधाम में यह श्रावण डेढ़ महीने का होता है, क्योंकि उड़िया और बांग्ला भाषी लोगों के पंचांग के मुताबिक हिन्दी पंचांग से लगभग 15 दिन पहले श्रावण शुरू होता है। वहीं हिंदी मत के अनुसार पूर्णिमा से पूर्णिमा तक श्रावण का महीना होता है। [3]
Chitreshwar Temple
Chitreshwar Temple, in Chitreshwar village, houses the largest natural Shiva linga in India, although not known to many people. The next largest is at Lingaraj Temple in Bhubaneswar. The present temple dates back to 10th century and was built by the Soma Vamsi or Keshari dynasty of Orissa. This temple was built in Orissan temple architecture. Traditionally believed to be about 3000 years old and finding mention in the Utkala Khanda of Skanda Purana.
It is believed that all the wishes made here are fulfilled, and Lord Shiva blesses his devotees by fulfilling their wishes. Every year during February or March on the day of Maha Shivaratri or the Shiva Chaturdasi festival, devotees of Lord Shiva come from distant places to pray to the god. This event attracts a few thousand people annually. A huge "Mela" or Fair is held at this time. Devotees do "tongue piercing" on this occasion. The village also has "Subarnarekha" river passing by its side. It is believed and witnessed by the people of this village that gold float on the banks of this river "Subarnarekha".
Chitreshwar Temple is an ancient temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is located at Chitreshwar, which is 55 km from Chakulia Railway Station. The town of Bahragora is 12 km from here. A popular fair is held in temple on the day of Shiva Chaturdasi. The devotees from several places, particularly from the bordering villages of Midnapore (West Bengal) and Mayurbhanj (Orissa) districts, assemble here.
