Risaldar Sardar Bahadur Kirpal Singh Mann of Mannawala (Jagir) (1848-1918), OBI of Probyn’s Horse on an elephant getting ready for a shikar (hunt). He took an early retirement to study engineering and architecture in Roorke. His first cousin was Risaldar Anup Singh Mann, IOM of 1857 fame also of Probyn’s horse. They are from village Manawala in Sheikupura district. In his lifetime, he controlled 750 murrabahs (20000acres) of land, built the Kapurthala state courthouse, president of the Punjab Zamindar association, honorary Magistrate of Gujranwala and overseer of the Patiala-Bhatinda Railway.
