Gharwal
Gharwal (घरवाल) is a gotra of Jats.[1] H.A. Rose treats Kharwal (खरवाल ) same as Gharwal.[2]
Origin
History
According to H.A. Rose Gharwal (घरवाल) tribe is found in the upper part of Kahuta, in Rawalpindi. They claim descent from one Pir Kala, a son of Raja, Mall (ancestor of the Janjuas). He married Kaho Rani when he came to those hills, and named the ilāqa in which he settled Kahru after her. Hence his descendants were called Kahrwal or Gharwal. The tribe is numerous and important, living in a picturesque country. The Dulal is a branch of this tribe. [3]
