Gomat (गोमत) is a Gotra of Jats.

Origin

Goman (गोमान्) or Gomanta (गोमन्त) was name of Raivataka Mountan where 18 tribes of Yadavas settled after they fled from Mathura out of fear of Jarasandha, the king of Magadha.[1]

History

Ram Sarup Joon[2] writes that...about 70 Jat Gotras joined the Gujar force and started calling themselves Gujars. It is one of them.
