Kokernag (कोकरनाग) is a town and tahsil in Anantnag district of the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir, India. Kokernag (कोकरनाग) is also a pond.

Origin

Kokernag = Khokar + Naga. Kokaranaga (कोकरनाग) was a Nagavanshi King.

History

Kokernag is known also as Breng Kokernag, the name given by Shiekh ul Alam, poet and scholar. He said "kokernag breng chu sunsund preng" which means that "Kokernag is crown of gold". Kokernag is also mentioned in Ain Akbari, where in it has been mentioned that the water of Kokernag satisfies both hunger and thirst and it is also a remedy for indigestion.[1]

कोकरनाग

कोकरनाग जम्मू-कश्मीर राज्य के अनंतनाग में स्थित एक पर्यटन स्थल है। असल में कोकरनाग का नाम 'बिन्दू ज़लांगम' है और यह नाम रिकॉर्ड में भी दर्ज है। यह स्थान ज़िला मुख्यालय से लगभग 17 किमी की दूरी पर है। यहां कई छोटे-छोटे सरोवर स्थित है और इन सरोवरों को एकत्रित रूप से 'कोकर' नाम से जाना जाता है। कोकरनाग शुद्ध जल की कश्मीर की सबसे विशाल सरोवर है।[2]
