Maneri is a town in Uttarakhand, India. Situated on the banks of river Bhagirathi 14 km north of Uttarkashi, it is the home of Maneri Dam and the terminating railway station on Chota Char Dham Railway nearest to Gangotri. It is also a favourite spot for adventure sports like trekking tracks, mountaineering and white-water rafting among tourists and locals alike. [1] According to Census 2011 information the location code or village code of Maneri village is 040740. Maneri village is located in Bhatwari Tehsil of Uttarkashi district in Uttarakhand, India. It is situated 13km away from sub-district headquarter Bhatwari and 14 km away from district headquarter Uttarkashi. As per 2009 stats, Maneri village is also a gram panchayat. The total geographical area of village is 218.52 hectares. Maneri has a total population of 1,271 peoples. There are about 299 houses in Maneri village. Uttarkashi is nearest town to Maneri which is approximately 14km away. [2]
History
मनेरी भारत में उत्तराखंड राज्य में एक छोटा सा शहर है जो पूरी दुनिया में लोगों के लिए एक पर्यटक स्थल है; यह भागीरथी नदी के तट पर उत्तरकाशी के उत्तर की ओर 8 किलोमीटर की दूरी पर स्थित है। उत्तरकाशी से 14 किलोमीटर दूर यह खूबसूरत नदियों का क्षेत्र चार धाम यात्रा के लिए पारगमन शिविर स्थापित करने के लिए लोकप्रिय है। यह ट्रेवलिंग ट्रैक, पर्वतारोहण और सफेद-पानी राफ्टिंग जैसे पर्यटकों और स्थानीय लोगों के बीच साहसिक खेलों के लिए भी एक पसंदीदा स्थान है। यहां पर एक डैम बनाया गया है। डैम होने के कारण यह स्थान पर्यटकों के आकर्षण का केंद्र बन गया है। यह डैम भागीरथी नदी पर बना गया है जिसे मनेरी भाली परियोजना के नाम से जाना जाता है, यहां बिजली उत्पादन किया जाता है। मनेरी के आस पास कई छोटे छोटे पहाड़ी गाँव हैं जैसे जामक, कामर, हिना, भाटासौड़ आदि । फिल्म कभी-कभी 1976 में आई अमिताभ बच्चन, शशि कपूर, अभिनीत फिल्म के कुछ दृश्य मनेरी में बन रहे इसी डैम पर शूट किये गए थे ।[3]
