Morang

Morang (मोरंग) is a District located in Province No. 1 in eastern Nepal. It is an Outer Terai district.

Location
It borders with Bihar, India to the South, Jhapa to the East, Dhankuta and Panchthar to the North, and Sunsari to the west. Morang has one Metropolitan City (Biratnagar), eight municipalities and eight rural municipalities. The headquarters of Morang is connected by Koshi National Highway to the East-West Mahendra National Highway at Itahari, Sunsari, and Morang is also connected to the Hill parts of the eastern region of Nepal.
History
मोरंग
विजयेन्द्र कुमार माथुर[1] ने लेख किया है .... मोरंग (AS, p.763): इस देश का हिंदी के प्राचीन साहित्य तथा लोकगीतों में कई स्थानों पर उल्लेख है. यह नेपाल की तराई के पूर्व में, कूचबिहार के पश्चिम में और पूर्णिया (बिहार) के उत्तर में स्थित प्रदेश का नाम था. भूषण कवि ने शिवाबावनी, 42 में इसका उल्लेख किया है-- 'मोरंग कुमायूं आदि बांधव पलाउं सबै कहां लों गनाऊँ जैसे भूपति के गोत हैं.' शिवराज भूषण 250 में इसका उल्लेख इस प्रकार है-- 'मोरंग जाहु कि जाहु कुमायूं सिरीनगरै कि कवित्त बनाए.' भूषण ने इन दोनों स्थानों पर मोरंग का कुमायूं (नैनीताल-अल्मोड़ा का क्षेत्र) के साथ वर्णन किया है.
