Nigaliva

Nigaliva (निगलीवा) or Nigali Sagar or Nigliva is an archaeological site in Nepal containing the remains of a pillar of Ashoka. The pillar is called the Nigali Sagar pillar, or also the Nighihawa pillar, or Nigliva pillar, or Araurakot Asoka Pillar. The site is located about 20 kms northwest of Lumbini and 7 kms northeast of Taulihawa, Nepal.[1]

History
Minor Pillar Inscription of Ashoka is at Nigali-Sagar (or Nigliva), near Lumbini, Rupandehi district, Nepal (originally near the Buddha Konakarnana stupa)
Kanakamuni Buddha: It is said that in this place the Kanakamuni Buddha, one of the Buddhas of the past, was born.[2] The Asoka inscription engraved on the pillar in Brahmi script and Pali language attests the fact that Emperor Asoka enlarged the Kanakamuni Buddha's stupa, worshiped it and erected a stone pillar for Kanakamuni Buddha on the occasion of the twentieth year of his coronation.
The Chinese pilgrims Fa-Hien and Hiuen-Tsang describe the Kanakamuni Stupa and the Asoka Pillar in their travel accounts. Hiuen Tsang speaks of a lion capital atop the pillar, now lost.

विजयेन्द्र कुमार माथुर[3] ने लेख किया है ...निगलीव (AS, p.500) एक प्राचीन ग्राम और ऐतिहासिक स्थान है। यह स्थान रुम्मिनदेई या प्राचीन लुंबिनी से 13 मील (लगभग 20.8 कि.मी.) उत्तर-पश्चिम की ओर ज़िला बस्ती, उत्तर प्रदेश और नेपाल की सीमा के निकट स्थित है। इस स्थान से मौर्य सम्राट अशोक का एक शिला स्तम्भ प्राप्त हुआ था। स्तम्भ में अशोक ने इस स्थान पर अवस्थित 'कोनगामन' या कनक मुनि बुद्ध, जिसका उल्लेख चीनी यात्री फाह्यान ने किया है, नामक स्तूप को परिवर्धित करने तथा राज्य संवत 20 में इस स्थान की यात्रा का वर्णन किया है। लुंबिनी ग्राम की यात्रा भी अशोक ने इसी वर्ष में की थी, जैसा कि वहाँ स्थित स्तम्भ के लेख से प्रकट होता है।
