Palamau

Palamau (पालामऊ) is one of the twenty-four districts of Jharkhand state, India. It was formed in 1892. The administrative headquarter of the district is Medininagar, situated on the Koel River.

History
The Palamu district have site of Neolithic and chalcolithic settlement in the confluence of Son and North Koel river in Kabra-Kala mound.[1]
During medival period Chero dynasty was ruling in the region which had become tributaries of Mughal empire during rule of Shahjahan and East India Company. In 1812 East India company took direct control of the region.[2]
पालामऊ
विजयेन्द्र कुमार माथुर[3] ने लेख किया है ...पालामऊ, झारखंड, (AS, p.554) छोटा नागपुर के क्षेत्र में स्थित है. यहां चेरो नामक आदिवासियों का मुख्य गढ़ था जहां उनका दुर्ग रांची-डाल्टनगंज सड़क पर आज भी स्थित है. शाइस्ताखां ने 1641 ई. में पालामऊ पर आक्रमण किया किंतु चेरों ने उसे खदेड़ दिया. 1660 ई. में दाऊदखां ने इस पर कब्जा कर लिया. 1771 ई. में चारों और अंग्रेजो में संघर्ष हुआ और कैप्टन कामेक (Camac) ने उस पर अधिकार कर लिया.
