Lt Gen (R) Prakash Chaudhary

Lt Gen (R) Prakash Chaudhary was born on 9th Decemeber 1948, in a village in Rohtak (Haryana) India.

Career

His main schooling was in Bangalore (King Georges School). After school, joined NATIONAL DEFENCE ACADEMY KHADAKWASLA (Pune). He was commissioned into the famous RAJPUTANA RIFLES. This Regt. has Rajputs and Jats in its ranks with a very sparse sprinkling of others. The other ranks (jawans) are mostly from Rajasthan, Haryana, UP and MP states in that order. Infact, in RAJASTHAN, in the shekhawati belt nearly every house has a serving or retired person from this Regiment. Taken part in every operation conceivable by a soldier starting from counter Insurgency operation in Mizoram, 1971 Indo-Pak war and counter Terrorist operations in Kashmir (twice) and Punjab. In addition to soldiering in the front line taken part in numerous welfare activities of the Rajputana Rifles jawans and their families as center Commadant (1998-2001) and as Sub Area Commadant Jaipur (2001-2002) and as DG NCC. During Kargil played a pivotal role in honouring the martyrs and their families. He rendered services towards the welfare of war widows and retired soldiers. Toured Rajasthan’s Shekhawati belt extensively to help the war widows of 1948, 1962, 1965, 1971 and Kargil.

Awards

He has been awared SEVEN TIMES (a very rare achievement) for acts of gallantry/distinguish service- Four times by honourable President of India and three times by Chief of Army Staff.

Social service

He has been involved in youth development in a major way and has conducted numerous lectures and interactive sessions in institutes, colleges and schools. In Rajasthan numerous inter-active sessions.He has very good oratory skills.
