History
V. S. Agrawala[2] writes that Ashtadhyayi of Panini mentions janapada Pratyagratha (प्रत्याग्रथ) (IV.1.173) - Hemachandra refers to Pratyaga-rathas as belonging to Ahichchhatra region (Abhidhanachintamani,4.22). Panini mentions the River named Rathasthā (Ruhut or Ramaganga, 'that which brings chariot to a halt' a meaning suggested by Pratyagratha also. It may be taken as the 'chariot' of Aryans advancing towards east.
