Puru Parvata

Puru Parvata (पुरु-पर्वत) is name of a mountain mentioned in Mahabharata. It is a pilgrim located near Kankhal (Haridwar) in Uttarakhand.

History
It was the Puru Parvata (पुरु-पर्वत) where Pururavas (पुरूरव) of Mahabharata was born. Pururava (पुरूरवा) was the first king of the Aila dynasty or the Somavamsha.[1]

Puru Parvata (पुरु-पर्वत) is mentioned in Mahabharata (III.88.19)
Vana Parva, Mahabharata/Book III Chapter 88 mentions tirthas in the North. Puru Parvata (पुरु-पर्वत) is mentioned in Mahabharata (III.88.19) [2]....O king, Sanatkumara regardeth that spot visited by Brahmarshis, as also the tirtha Kanakhala (कनखल) (III.88.19) that is near to it, as sacred. There also is the mountain named Puru (पुरु-पर्वत) (III.88.19) which is resorted to by great Rishis and where Pururavas (पुरूरव) (III.88.19) was born, and Bhrigu practised ascetic austerities.
पुरु पर्वत
विजयेन्द्र कुमार माथुर[3] ने लेख किया है .....पुरु पर्वत (AS, p.566) : 'सनत कुमारः कौरव्य पुण्यंकनखलं तथा, पर्वतश च पुरुर्नाम यत्र जातः पुरूरवः'. यहाँ पुरु नामक पर्वत का कनखल (हरद्वार) के पास उल्लेख है.
