Pratara (प्रतर) is name of a place mentioned by Panini in Ashtadhyayi (4.2.80.2). Pratara (प्रतर) is name of a Nagavanshi King in the race of Kauravya mentioned in Mahabharata (I.52.12).

In Mahabharata

Adi Parva, Mahabharata/Book I Chapter 52 mentions the names of all those Nagas that fell into the fire of the snake-sacrifice. Nagas of race of Kauravya includes Pratara (प्रतर) in verse (I.52.12). [2]...Aindila, Kundala, Munda, Veniskandha, Kumaraka, Bahuka, Shringavega, Dhurtaka, Pratara and Astaka.
