Sagar (सगर) is a village in the Shahapur taluk of Yadgir district in Karnataka state, India.

Location
Sagar is ten kilometres south-southwest (SSW) of the town of Shahapur and 6 km from the Shahapur-Bangalore highway. Sagar is specifically known as Dodda Sagar to differentiate it from Halisagar (the village near by Shahapur city)The nearest railhead is in Yadgir.
History
Sagar: Fortifications, gateways, dargahs and the Janai Masjid indicate that Sagar was of considerable political and religious importance during the Bahmani and Adil Shahi rule, as is evidenced by the number, extent and grandeur of the monuments. Persian inscriptions range from 1713 A.D.[1]
सगर (कर्नाटक)
सगर (AS, p.930): कर्नाटक में मध्य रेल के मुम्बई-रायचूर रेलमार्ग पर यादगिरि स्टेशन से 21 मील की दूरी पर स्थित वर्तमान शाहपुर। इसी के निकट सगराद्रि नामक पर्वत है। [2]

सागर, कर्नाटक (AS, p.952): जिला गुलबर्गा मैसूर, बहमनी और आदिलशाही शासनकाल में सागर की राजनैतिक तथा धार्मिक दृष्टि से दक्षिण के महत्वपूर्ण नगरों में गिनती थी जैसा कि यहां की विशिष्ट दुर्गरचनाओं, प्रवेशद्वारों, दरगाहों तथा विशाल जामा मस्जिद के अवशेष से ज्ञात होता है.[3]
