Suraj Bhan Malik

Colonel Suraj Bhan Malik was born in village Bhainswal Kalan in Sonepat district, Haryana.

His father Ch Rattan Singh Malik was a farmer. He completed his schooling from Govt High School Bhainswal Kalan, then he had taken admission in CR Polytechnic Rohtak in civil. After study he was selected JE but he left it and opted for defence forces as JCO in 61 Engineer (Bengal Sapper) . In 1971 was he & his team constructed a bridge on Bharam Putra River in Assam to make way for Indian Army. After many years of service he decided to become an officer , he given SSB three times but could not make it , but he was determined to do that. In his fourth attempt he got recommended and became officer in Army . He served for 37 years in Army, he was awarded two commendations , one from Army and other from Air Force . On Nov 2007 he retired from Army at Rank LT COL from MEG. His son is Lt Col in Army , his daughter is retired as Major . And his daughter in law is also serving in Army as LT Col. He guides youth in his village for Defence Forces.
