The Blessing of Kolu: An Ancestor of the Bajwa Clan
Original Verses:
“Uncha Pindon ayon Mehal Dhara Dhie.”
“Kolu ton parnayon jian Ram Chand Sita.”
“Tenun Manak Manga Nar Singh Narain die.”
“Aur bhi die our bhi die our bhi die our bhi die.”
“Bas---Bas bhi die.”
English Poetic Interpretation of the Original Jatki Verses :
From the depth of his heart, Kolu speaks, to his beloved,
With love and reverence, this blessing is offered.
From the Ucha Pind, you came,
Daughter of the noble, whose palace bears his name.
A maiden from a house of honor and grace,
In the bride-choosing ceremony, many suitors came,
But only Kolu could lift the bow of fame.
You were wed to a Bajwa, as Ram Chand and Sita were,
The marriage rituals observed, as done by Rama of yore.
To you, God Narayan will bestow precious gems,
Manak and Manga, blessings from Him.
Nar Singh, the lion, with his grace,
Will gift you a life filled with divine embrace.
He will give you four more sons, bright as the sun,
With blessings aplenty, a new life begun.
With humility, the ancestral bride replies,
'Bas!'—enough, her heart soaring high.
Then Kolu, with a smile, his words softly said,
God will bless you with Bas, a daughter ahead.
Gratitude for the Legacy and Locking the Verses:
Thanks for locking the poetry in an ancient style,
By weaving each verse with a name, mile by mile.
As the verses count, so do the names,
In the first, a name stands alone,
In the second, two hearts are shown,
In the third, three sons appear,
In the fourth, four souls draw near,
And in the last, a daughter is named,
Each verse a blessing, all framed.
I now understand the concept true,
Of how the verses are linked, as they grew.
The blessings flow, like time’s own stream,
A legacy preserved, an ancestral dream.
Purpose of Locking the Verses:
In ancient art, the verses are locked,
To guard the legacy, never to be shocked.
Each verse assigned to one with care,
Preserving meaning, beyond compare.
No corruption can distort the line,
The message stays pure, for all time.
A sealed testament, strong and true,
Guarding wisdom passed down through.
Through each verse, the blessings flow,
Preserving history, where memories grow.
Protected from change, from misinterpretation’s hand,
The family’s story, forever to stand.
Reflection and Prayer for the Future:
Muddassir Bajwa, a descendant of Manak,
I recall the ancestors whose legacy I track.
Kolu, the noble, whose blessings we keep,
Through time and devotion, their memories we reap.
Their pride, their strength, and the path they paved,
A foundation of honor, for which I am saved.
From Chawinda’s land, where the Himalayan hills rise,
A place of great beauty beneath vast, open skies.
With reverence, I pray for their spirit and grace,
For the wisdom they left, that time cannot erase.
In their footsteps, I walk, as their legacy flows,
A spiritual connection that forever grows.
May I honor them well, in every prayer and deed,
For the ancestors’ blessings are the soul’s true need.
Closing Prayer: Empowering the Clan:
I pray to God, in whose hands lies our fate,
To empower my clan, to restore what is great.
To bring order again, where chaos once lay,
And set us upon the path to a brighter day.
May we rise, as Kashyapa envisioned, with might,
To flower the motherland, in truth and light.
Grant us success, in every endeavor we start,
To honor our ancestors and play our part
where chaos once lay,
And set us upon the path to a brighter day.
May we rise, as Kashyapa envisioned, with might,
To flower the motherland, in truth and light.
Grant us success, in every endeavor we start,
To honor our ancestors and play our part.
