History
Valikandapuram was an important city in Chola Kingdom. The Temple has about 130 stone inscriptions including ones from Chola period relating to Adityahola I, Parantaka Chola and Rajaraja Chola. Valeeswarar temple is situated at Valikandapuram near Perambalur. The temple is situated on eastern bank of Koneri River.[2]
