Veṇumatī (वेणुमती).—A river rising from the Pāriyātra hills.[1]

Veṇumatī (वेणुमती). A channel branching off from the Toyavapi on its western side. It was constructed by Parakkamabahu I. Cv.lxxix.46.[2]

Veṇumatī is one of the twenty canal-systems associated with Parakkamasamudda waters that existed in the Polonnaruva (Polonnaruwa) district of Ceylon (Sri Lanka).—The Pūjāvaliya gives the name Mahāsamudra to the Parakkamasamudda at Polonnaruva. The canal system associated with Parakkamasamudda is described and named in the Cūlavamsa as follows:—[...] Veṇumatī canal, which flowed from the west side of Toyavāpi; [...].[3]

वेणुमती

वेणुमती (AS, p.873): बुद्धचरित 23,62 में वर्णित एक स्थान का नाम है, जो वैशाली के निकट स्थित था। यहाँ गौतम बुद्ध ने आम्रपाली का आतिथ्य स्वीकार करने के पश्चात् वर्षा काल व्यतीत किया था।[4]
