Alandi (अलंदी) is a town and a municipal council in the Pune district in the state of Maharashtra, India. The town is popular as a place of pilgrimage and the resting place (Samadhi) of the 13th century Marathi Bhakti Sant Dnyaneshwar.

Location

Alandi (18°40′37.42″N 73°53′47.76″E[1]) is located on the bank of the Indrayani River, 18.8 km (11.7 mi) in Khed Taluka of Pune District, India, near the northern edge of city of Pune. It has an average elevation of 577 meters (1,893 feet).

History

विजयेन्द्र कुमार माथुर[1] ने लेख किया है ...अलंदी (जिला पूना, महा.) (AS, p.70) - पुणे से 13 मील दूर महाराष्ट्र का प्राचीन नगर है। अलंदी में इन्द्राणी नदी के तट पर जैनेश्वर का प्राचीन मंदिर है। अलंदी का संबंध महाराष्ट्र के प्रसिद्ध संतकवि तुकाराम से बताया जाता है।
