Abhijat Singh
Abhijat Singh won the Under 14 Chess Championship of Delhi State in 1993 while he was studying in Grade-VII at Greenfield Public School, Safdarjung Enclave, and was a member of the Botwinik Chess Club. His moving on to the Int'l School of Paris led to the activation of their dormant Chess Club. He reigned as an undisputed Chess Champion not only among students of Int'l School of Paris but also among the teaching faculty from 1993 to 1996. Was runner-up in Under-14 Ille de France Championship 1993 and missed selection in the Ille de France U-14 Chess Team on points.(French NCR where 50 % population of France lives). Here onwards he oriented less to competitive chess and more to academics. He repeated the ISP feat in his next school - d'Aguilas Int'l School, Santiago, Chile from 1996 to 1998. He graduated from Nido d'Aguilas with a Baccaulareate(IB) with superlative performance and won a full four years scholarship to attend Christian University (TCU), Ft. Worth, Texas, where he again became the TCU Chess Champion, 1998 even among a large presence of East European students. He graduated from TCU with a B.Sc. in Computer Science in 2002 and joined his family in New York, his father being then posted as Attache with the Permanent Mission of India to the United Nations where again he enrolled for his second Degree in Economics & Statistics from Queens College, New York. He now works as a Senior Software Consultant being an experienced Biztalk Specialist on the US north-east coast and lives there with his younger brother who is also a Software Professional working as an Application Specialist in Rutgers University NJ and is also a very good Chess player. He is grandson of L. Major Ram Narain Dahiya of V. Kirholi. His naniji is Bhama Shah Smt. Saraswati Devi ji Adhyapika of SriGangaNagar. His father is currently with the Indian Foreign Service Institute, JNU Campus, New Delhi and parents now live in Dwarka, New Delhi
