Afzalgarh

Afzalgarh (अफजलगढ़) is a city in Nagina tahsil of Bijnor district in Uttar Pradesh.
Location
Afzalgarh is located at 29.4°N 78.68°E. It has an average elevation of 212 metres. The nearby cities are Kalagarh, Sherkot, Dhampur, Jaspur and Kashipur. It is located at the border with the state of Uttarakhand.

History
Historically a town of British India, it was founded in the mid-eighteenth century by a local leader named Nawab Afzal Ali Khan, who also built a fort in the area, which was dismantled after the Indian Rebellion of 1857. Still now some part of the fort can be seen near municipality area. 13 kms away from this small town is Kalagarh. Kalagarh is part of Uttarakhand. The town is on the right bank of the river Ramganga. विजयेन्द्र कुमार माथुर[2] ने लेख किया है ... अफजलगढ़ (AS, p.28) उत्तर प्रदेश राज्य के बिजनौर ज़िले में स्थित एक ऐतिहासिक स्थान है। इसे नवाब अफजल ख़ाँ पठान (1748-1794 ई.) ने बसाया था।
