Amrabad (अमराबाद) is a Mandal in Mahbubnagar district, Telangana State.

Location

Amrabad is located at 16.3833°N 78.8333°E. (Pin code: 509201). It has an average elevation of 576 metres. Amrabad plateau is highly hilly region covered with dense forests and high grass. It is the largest mandal in the district area-wise, but population density is less. Large portions of the mandal is occupied by Nallamala forests. Amrabad also served as the headquarters of the taluka before separate mandals were formed. It is inhabited by tribal population, mostly Chenchus.[1]

विजयेन्द्र कुमार माथुर[2] ने लेख किया है ...अमराबाद (AS, p.31) तेलंगाना राज्य के महबूबनगर ज़िले में स्थित है। अमराबाद ताल्लुके में वारंगल के राजा प्रतापरुद्र के समय में बना हुआ प्रतापरुद्रकोट नामक दुर्ग स्थित है जो अब खंडहर हो गया है। अमराबाद के पठार की पहाड़ियाँ पर प्राचीन मंदिर भी हैं जिनमें महेश्वर का मंदिर एक ऊंचे शिखर पर बना है। मंदिर तक पहुंचने के लिए नौ सौ सीढ़ियाँ हैं।
