Antur

Antur (अंतूर) is a fort near Chimnapur village in Kannad taluka of Aurangabad district inMaharashtra state, India.[1] This monument is protected by Maharashtra State, Archaeology Department.[2]

History
The fort was built about the middle of the 15th century by a Maratha Chief and was named after him. The fort was made by Dhone community who live in chimnapur village. The kiledar of Antur Fort was "Ravirav Shamrao Dhone". It remained in the possession of his descendants for about a century and was then taken by the Mohammedans. Between 16th and 17th centuries it belonged to the Nizam Shahi of Ahmadnagar, as is evident front several inscriptions in the fort in which some of the kings of this dynasty are mentioned.

विजयेन्द्र कुमार माथुर[3] ने लेख किया है ...अंतूर (AS, p.5) महाराष्ट्र राज्य के औरंगाबाद ज़िले के अंतूर में एक पहाड़ी पर निज़ामशाही काल का एक दुर्ग अवस्थित है। इस दुर्ग के भीतर मस्जिद पर और स्तंभों पर 1591, 1598, 1616 और 1625 ई. के फ़ारसी अभिलेख उत्कीर्ण हैं।
