Baror (Hindi:बरोर, Punjabi: ਬਰੋਰ ) is an archeological site in Sri Ganganagar district of Rajasthan, India. It belongs with ancient Indus Valley Civilization. Pre Harappan and Harappan pottery has been found after excavation.[1]

Location

It is located in the south part of Sri Ganganagar district of Rajasthan. It is situated on Anupgarh-Ramsinghpur road.

It belongs with ancient Indus Valley Civilization. Pre Harappan and Harappan pottery has been found after excavation.[2]

The identity of Baror a pre-historic site was discovered by Luigi Pio Tessitori, an Italian Indologist (1887–1919) in 1916-17. After independence of India Amlānand Ghosh (Ex. Director General, Archaeological Survey of India, or ASI) did a detailed survey of this site.In 2003-04 The Indian archeological survey excavation branch-3 Patna started excavation under Sarasvati heritage project.400*300 square area was undertaken for excavation. In 2006- 07 houses constructed with tiles,roads and streets were discovered .

The archeologist have found pottery of Pre Harappan and Harappan period. The circular and triangular terracotta cakes, sling balls with pinched decoration, circular beads and spacer, terracotta, faience and shell bangles, etc.

1. A skeleton of human with ornaments has been found.
2. Two stones have been found which produce red coloured liquid after rubbing with each other.
3. A 5 meter long and 3 meter clay oven also has been discovered.
4. A pitcher filled with 8000 thousand pearls has been found here.

बरोर

बरोर : राजस्थान के गंगा नगर ज़िले के बरोर गाँव में 65000 वर्ग मीटर में फैले टीले के नीचे दबे पत्थर एक पुरानी सभ्यता के द्वार शीघ्र खोलने जा रहे हैं। सरस्वती नदी तट पर इस सभ्यता की खोज जारी है सितम्बर 2006। यह खोज कार्य लगभग 2003 से चल रहा है। बरोर में उत्खनन से मिले अवशेषों के आधार पर यहाँ की सभ्यता को प्राक्, प्रारम्भिक एवं विकसित हड़प्पा काल में बाँटा जा सकता है।[3]

इतिहास: देश में अब तक कहीं भी मिट्टी के बर्तनों में काली पट्टी नहीं पाई गई, किंतु यहाँ के मृदभाण्डों में यह बात देखने को मिलती है। बटन के आकर की मुहरें मिली हैं। यहाँ से विकसित शहरी सभ्यता के पुरावशेष मिले हैं। ताज़ा खोज ने इस सभ्यता को सीधे अफ़ग़ानिस्तान एवं मिस्र की संस्कृतियों के नज़दीक ले जाकर खड़ा किया है। मई 2006 में मिट्टी के एक पात्र में सेलखड़ी के लगभग 8000 मनके मिलें। उनके साथ शंख की तराशी चूड़ियाँ, अंगूठी, बोरला, ताँबे की अंगूठी, लाजवर्द मनके आदि मिले हैं। लाजवर्द मनके केवल अफ़ग़ानिस्तान में ही मिलते हैं। [4]

रहन सहन: इतिहासकारों के लिए बरोर के पुरावशेष किसी ख़ज़ाने से कम नहीं हैं। प्राक् हड़प्पा काल के अवशेषों से ऐसी मृद्भाण्ड परम्परा का पता चलता है जो प्रारम्भिक एवं विकसित हड़प्पा काल से बिल्कुल भिन्न हैं। यहाँ मिले बर्तनों में ज़्यादातर मंझोले आकार के मटके, भण्डारण पात्र, हांड़ी और कटोरे हैं लेकिन ज़्यादातर लाल हैं। ऐसा ज्ञात होता है कि यहाँ प्राक् हड़प्पा के समय लोग झोपड़ियों में निवास करते थे।[5]

व्यापार उद्योग: सुनियोजित नगर विन्यास, भवन निर्माण में कच्ची ईंटों का बहुतायत प्रयोग, उद्योग आधारित अर्थव्यवस्था और विशिष्ट मृद्भाण्ड परम्परा विकसित हड़प्पाकाल की विशेषताएँ यहाँ दृष्टिगोचर होती हैं। चाक पर निर्मित और भली-भाँति पकाए गए बर्तनों में ज़्यादातर लाल रंग के हैं जिन पर इसी रंग का चमकदार लेप मिलता है। उत्खनन में चूल्हों के अलावा अनेक प्रकार की भट्टियाँ प्राप्त हुई हैं। ऐसा अनुमान है कि इन भट्टियों का कोई व्यावसायिक उपयोग होता होगा। [6]
