History

Note: Following information was made available by Nirmal Gujar - Director GSI Jaipur, Mob 9460617918, Email: <nirmalgujar81@gmail.com>, great great grandson of Hema Ram Gujar

When my ancestors moved from north to south they were in search of water. Earlier settlement was generally near water source. First they arrived in Chitana near Nokha Bikaner and they further migrated to present location. There was one deep water well which we call bera in marwari and thal is used for land. Therefore berathal derived there name from bera and land.

It is also said that when they migrated towards south they are four brothers, one brother is sh Bhomji Gujar therefore Gujars from Berathal are called Bhomyani Gujar. Rest of three brother further migrated to Barmer and settled in Pausal, Baytu Chimanji etc. Gujar devsthan are in Berathal therefore all Gujar from Barmer come to Berathal for visit to pay homage and attend jagran.

Initially there were only two Jat Gotras in Berathal which are Gujar and Bhambu. Gujar were in Berathal Khurd and Bhambu in Berathal Kalan. Later part of Berathal Kalan was renamed as Jagrampura in the memory of my great grandfather sh Jagramji Gujar. There were tombs which we called chattris in memory of my ancestor in Jagrampura. Chhatris are situated on Berathal - Panchodi road. Presently there is tomb under construction in name of Jagramji in Berathal Khurd.

Saran was settled in berathal three or four generation before on the request of subedar saran sahab to sh jagramji who granted permission. There were Bhati rajputs also in berathal but administration always remain in the hand of Gujars maybe because it was under direct control of rathores of Khinwsar. Rathores have greeted the gujar of berathal always with no collection of taxes from gujars.

My great grandfather sh Jagramji Gujar was notable zamindar of the area. He married thrice. He has seven sons elder sh Mahendra Singh ji was the teacher second one sh Prahladramji Gujar was also zamindar, third one sh Shreeramji Gujar was colonel in army and fought in 1962 war. Fourth son was sh Ganeshji Gujar who was pradhan of Mundwa panchayat. Later he migrated to Lilki Sumerpur and purchased agri land there. Fifth son sh Gomandramji and sixth son sh Surajbhan also migrated with ganeshji to Sumerpur. Seventh son sh Sohanramji was engineer by profession studied from Bangalore in 80’s but chose to farming over engineering or any govt job. Sh Jagramji Gujar has three daughters also sr buha was married to Parasram Maderna of Chadi (ex minister), second daughter was also married to brother of Parasramji and third daughter was married to lawyer and zamindar from Bhakrod village.

My grandfather sh Prahladramji married to Kukna of Bhundel village. My father sh Ranjeet Singh who retired as manager from Punjab & Sind Bank Gurdaspur. My father’s in laws are sh Mohanji Sangwa of Jegla Bikaner. My in-laws are sh Prahladramji Godara of Barsinghsar who retired as A.En. from PHED Bikaner. I have one brother sh Ashwan Gujar who studied electrical engineering and presently J.En. in JVVNL Bikaner. His in-laws are Punia of Janau Khari Rajgarh Churu.

There are lot many details further which I will tell you in future.
