Charanjit Singh Walia was a Member of Parliament (8th Lok Sabha - 1984-89) from Patiala constituency. He contested election from Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD).
Walia served as vice-President of the SAD before switching loyalty to the Congress in 2004. He was vocal as a trade unionist and remained president of the Electricity Board Employees Union, and the Punjab State Services Federation.
Demise
Charanjit Singh Walia passed away in Patiala on 18 July 1913, at the age of 78. He was survived by his wife and three sons.
