Devi Singh Tewatia
Jus. (Retd.) D. S. Tewatia (30 June 1930) was the Chief Justice of High Courts of Calcutta and Chandigarh. He was from Kondal Palwal. He was Congress MLA from Hathin in 1967 Haryana. His brother was Delhi Minister Deep Chand Bandhu
He was choosen the Chairperson of The Punjab People's commission (a non-government organization, which comprises former Mumbai High Court Judge H. Suresh and former Delhi High Court Judge Jaspal Singh as members and is headed by Calcutta High Court Judge Devi Singh Tewatia) which was set up to probe the human rights violation in the state during the 1984-94 decade of state sponsored terror when the Congress party ruled the realm.
The Chairperson of the Punjab People's Commission, retired Calcutta High Court Chief Justice Devi Singh Tewatia, has been associated with other People's Commissions on Babri Masjid, riots over Cauvery water issue,Godhra riots, shooting in Maikanch,hearing on the Sardar Sarovar Project etc., which held hearing without any controversy.
Demise
Justice Devi Singh Tewatia breached his last on 23 November 2017 at the age of 90 years, at his house in Gurugram, Haryana.

पलवल : कोलकाता हाईकोर्ट के चीफ जस्टिस रहे देवी सिंह तेवतिया का निधन हो गया। करीब 90 वर्षीय तेवतिया का निधन ब्रेन हेमरेज होने से हुआ। पलवल के कौंडल गांव निवासी देवी सिंह आजकल गुरुग्राम डीएलएफ में रह रहे थे। उनके अंतिम संस्कार में इलाके के सैकड़ों लोगो ने पहुंचकर श्रद्धांजलि अर्पित की। वे हथीन से 1967 में विधायक भी रहे। बाद में वे न्यायिक सेवा में चुने गए। 1989 में रिटायरमेंट के बाद उन्होंने जनसत्ता पार्टी के नाम से राजनीतिक दल का गठन भी किया तथा 1996 में फरीदाबाद लोकसभा क्षेत्र से सांसद का चुनाव भी लड़े। उन्होंने जाट आरक्षण आंदोलन में भी अपनी भूमिका निभाई। वे आल इंडिया जाट महासभा के अध्यक्ष भी रहे।
