Dhanauri is a very ancient village.Jats of dhanda gotra came here from delhi (paharganj). This is the first village of dhanda gotra in haryana rest of the villages were settled from here. Baba kher nath was very famous nath of this village. A popular story of a person whoes name was dhooli dhanda (धूली ढाण्डा) .when dhanda gotra people were travelling in search of new villages from dhanauri. A dhanda family lost a boy who fell off from the bullockcart. That dhanda family whoes boy fell off went back to village in hope that some day they will find their boy. When a rajput man was going from that path where dhanda boy fell off he found that boy in dool(धूल) than he returned back that boy to his family. On this incident people call him duli (धूली) But some of villager changed their gotra to other form their real gotra is dhanda .
