Dahod (दाहोद) is a city and district on the banks of the Dadhimati River in Dahod District in the State of Gujarat, India.

Located near the border of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. It is 214 kms from Ahmedabad and 159 kms from Vadodara.

History

Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb was born in the fort of Morbi in 1618, during the reign of Jahangir. Aurangzeb was said to have ordered his ministers to favour this town, as it was his birthplace.[2] Tatya Tope, the freedom fighter, is known to have absconded in Dahod. He is believed to have lived his last days in this region.

It was previously within the boundaries of Panchmahal District.

विजयेन्द्र कुमार माथुर[3] ने लेख किया है ...दधिपद्र (AS, p.425) तीर्थमाला चैत्यनंदन में उल्लिखित प्राचीन जैन तीर्थ,-- 'मोढेरे दधिपद्र कर्करपुरे ग्रामादि चैत्यालये' यह वर्तमान दाहोद (गुजरात) है
