Dushyant Chautala

Dushyant Chautala (born:3.4.1988) is an MLA in Haryana Vidhan Sabha. He was the Deputy Chief Minister of Haryana from 2019 to March 2024. He is grandson of former Haryana Chief Minister Omprakash Chautala and the son of Ajay Singh Chautala. He represents the fourth generation of former Deputy Prime Minister, Chaudhary Devi Lal.

Early life

Dushyant was born in Hisar on April 3, 1988. He passed his CBSE examination in 2004 from Lawrence School, Sanawar. Later, he got B.Sc degree in Business from California State University, Bakersfield (USA) in 2011.

Marriage

Dushyant Chautala tied knot with Meghna Ahlawat on 21 April 2017. Marriage reception was held at Gurgaon.[1]

The youngest MP (Lok Sabha)

In April 2014, he filed his nomination papers for the Indian Lok Sabha elections at the age of 25 years and 11 months, from Hisar Lok Sabha constituency.. On 16 May 2014, he and won the election and thus, was apparently the youngest Member of Parliament at the age of 26 years and 1 month.

However, during Lok Sabha elections held in May 2019, he could not win when he fought election from Hisar constituency as the candidate of newly-formed JJP party. He was defeated by BJP candidate, Brijendra Singh Shokeen.

Haryana Vidhan Sabha Elections in Oct. 2019

During Oct. 2019 elections of Haryana Vidhan Sabha, Dushyant Chautala's newly formed Jan-nayak Janata party (JJP) won on 10 seats. Dushyant himself was elected from Uchana Kalan constituency, by garnering 92504 votes, thus defeating BJP candidate, Mrs. Prem Lata by a margin of 47452 votes.

In this election, the ruling BJP won only 40 seats in a 90-member Assembly, thus short of 7 votes to form a government. Then, BJP decided to form a coalition government along with JJP. On 27 October 2019, BJP's Manoharlal Khattar was sworn in as Chief Minister of Haryana, and Dushyant Chautala took the oath as Deputy Chief Minister. The coalition between BJP and JJP came to an end when CM Manoharlal Khattar resigned and a new CM (Naib Singh Saini) took over in mid-March 2024. Hence Dushayant had to leave the post of Deputy Chief Minister.
