Date conversion

Date conversion from an Indian Calendar to the Common Era (CE or AD) requires a complex computation. To obtain the approximate year in AD we can use the following formula for different Eras:

Viranirvana Samvat: | subtract (-) 527-526 | The Vira Nirvana Samvat (era) originated on 15 October 527 BCE. It commemorates the nirvana of Mahavira, the 24th Jain Tirthankara. |
Buddhist Era (BE): | subtract (-) 544-543 | Buddha attained parinirvāna |
Yudhishthira Samvat: | subtract (-) 3101 | Ascension of Lord Krishna at age 125 |
Shri Krishna Samvat: | subtract (-) 3226 | Birth of Lord Krishna |
