Piddha

Piddha: An antique, amazing and heritage piece of furniture called "PIDDHA" in earlier days and used to be on the inventory of each and every household in rural areas. Perhaps now on the door of it's totally and complete phase outed status. Rarely available and visiable now-a-days and if somewhere luck favours, it may be available with Art lovers proud owners. It used to be two types ONE simple with bottom only and was supposed to be available in down trodden families and SECOND with bottom and back and used to be the families of little bit effluent class. Generally it was used by the house ladies while performing various household activities or even for community indoor gatherings by old and respectable ladies. Younger folks used to sit on earth only as a token of respect to older ladies to seek their blessings. Now Piddha has migrated to the Drawing Rooms of elite and urban class of modern towns and cities via Handicrafts Emporium with a handsome price tags whereas it was readily available hardly with any cost in rural areas. The traditional carpenters used to make it for the families to whom they were associated without any cost chaged. It had very little charm or attraction in older days in rural areas but now it catches eyes of modern and fashionable households specially bold and beautifull ladies. It's change of luck and importance with the passage of time and getting heritage status now.... ........... Love this antique piece......
