History
Hingoli is a great cotton mart, and is famous as one of the first places in the Deccan at which operations for the suppression of thugi were commenced about 1833. Many prehistoric sites in various places in the taluq have yielded neolithic and megalithic artifacts, flakes, cores, stone implements and stone objects.[1]

हिंगोली (AS, p.1021): लॉर्ड बेंटिक के शासनकाल में (1833 ई.) ठगी की प्रथा के उत्सादनार्थ जो महा-अभियान आरंभ किया गया था उसका आरंभ इसी स्थान पर हुआ था. हिंगोली तालुके में कई स्थानों पर नवपाषाण युगीन प्रस्तर उपकरण तथा हथियार प्राप्त हुए हैं.[2]
