Location

It is situated 20km away from sub-district headquarter Charama (tehsildar office) and 30km away from district headquarter Kanker. According to Census 2011 information the location code or village code of Jepra village is 447498. Jepra village is located in Charama tehsil of Uttar Bastar Kanker district in Chhattisgarh, India. As per 2009 stats, Jepra village is also a gram panchayat. The total geographical area of village is 942.72 hectares. [1]

History

No. 20.- Kanker Copper Plates Of Pamparajadeva (Kalachuri) Samvat 965 And 966 = 12.08.1213 and 06.10.1214 By Hira Lal, B.A., Nagpur.[2] mention the towns and villages Kakaira, Padi, Kogara, Andali, Jaipara, Chikhali and Vanikotta.

Jaipara is the modern Jepra (Indian Ant. quarter sheet 92, N. W., Long. 81 31', Lat. 20 28'), a village 15 miles north of Kanker.

Jepra has a total population of 1,933 peoples, out of which male population is 953 while female population is 980. Literacy rate of jepra village is 67.82% out of which 74.92% males and 60.92% females are literate. There are about 455 houses in jepra village. Pincode of jepra village locality is 494669.[3]
