Jatu Language
Jatu Language (जाटू) is the language of Jats of Karnal, Hisar, Rohtak etc.
जाटू ग्लोसरी
रोहतक और आसपास के इलाक़ों के जाटों द्वारा बोली जाने वाली भाषा की ग्लॉसरी Mr E Joseph ने 1911 में लिखी, जिसे
‘जाटू ग्लोसरी नाम दिया’, जिसे Mr E Joseph ने Mr O Brien की ‘मुल्तानी ग्लोसरी’ की तर्ज पर बनाया।
Mr O Brien जो मुल्तान के कमिश्नर रहे थे उन्होंने 1881 में मुल्तान और आसपास रहने वाले जाटों की भाषा की मुल्तानी ग्लॉसरी बनाई। दोनों ग्लॉसरी में सिर्फ़ लिपि और मामूली लहजे का फ़र्क़ हैl इसी मुल्तानी ग्लॉसरी के आधार पर Mr A Jukes ने 1900 में ‘Jatki or Western Punjabi dictionary’ बनाई।
जाटू ग्लोसरी के कुछ अंश
E Joseph की रोहतक और आसपास के इलाक़ों के जाटों की ‘जाटू ग्लोसरी’ के कुछ अंश:
- “The language spoken by the Rohtak Jats is called by themselves Játú. One and the same language, with dialectical differences, almost imperceptible from village to village, is spoken throughout the Bángar or highlands lying between the Khádir of the Jamná on the east and the Hissar Hariáná tract on the west. The language is variously known in different parts as Bangarú, Játú or Hariáni.”
