Kadvaha (कड़वाहा) is a village in Isagarh tahsil of Ashoknagar district in Madhya Pradesh. It is known for the ancient Shiv Mandir, Garhi and Mata Mandir. There are ruins of an ancient Monastery and inscriptions (AD 1067 and 1105) found at Kadwaya reveals that it was made for Mattamayura saints followers of Shiva.

History

Kadwaya a small village of Ashoknagar tehsil contains a number of temples. One of these temples has been constructed in the 10th century in Kachhapaghata style of architecture. It has its garbha-griha (sanctum), antaral and mandapa. The temple contains short pilgrimis records of A.D. 1067 and 1105. Another old temple of Kadwaya is known as Chandal math. The village possesses a ruined monastery, from a very old record was picked up which it is stated that to monestor was built to house some members of Shaiva sect known as Matta Maurya. During Akbar's reign Kadwaya was the headquarters of a mahal in the Gwalior's sarkar of the subah of Agra.

कड़वाहा मध्य प्रदेश राज्य के ग्वालियर (वर्तमान अशोकनगर) ज़िले में स्थित है। कड़वाहा का प्राचीन नाम कंदबगुहा था। मध्यकाल (10वीं शती के पश्चात 16वीं शती से पूर्व) ) में बने हुए लगभग बारह मंदिरों के लिए कड़वाहा प्रसिद्ध है। वे मंदिर कड़वाहा ग्राम के चारों ओर एक मील के घेरे में स्थित हैं। इनमें से एक शिवालय आज भी अच्छी अवस्था में है और मध्ययुगीन कला का श्रेष्ठ उदाहरण है। कड़वाहा में एक प्राचीन विहार के खंडहर प्राप्त हुए हैं और कड़वाहा के एक अभिलेख से ज्ञात होता है कि यह विहार या मठ मत्तमयूर नामक शैव साधुओं के लिए बनवाया गया था। इस संप्रदाय को मध्यकाल में काफ़ी लोकप्रियता प्राप्त थी जैसा कि मध्य प्रदेश में प्राप्त इनके बहुसंख्यक मठों और अभिलेखों से सूचित होता है। [1]
