Kanchap

Kanchap (कंचप) Kanchav (कंचव) is gotra of Jats found in Distt Rohtak and Jind in Haryana.

Origin

They are said to be descendants of Kanchanaksha (कञ्चनाक्ष) who was one of those combatants armed with diverse weapons and clad in diverse kinds of robes and ornaments, that Skanda procured on the ceremony for investing Kartikeya with the status of generalissimo.
