Kanzalawn (कन्जलवान) ia a town in Gurez tahsil of Bandipora district in the state of Jammu and Kashmir, India. It was the ancient capital of the Dards.

Kanzalwan is a Village in Gurez Block in Bandipora District of Jammu & Kashmir State, India. It is located 30 KM towards East from District head quarters Bandipora. 43 KM from State capital Srinagar, Jammu. Kanzalwan is surrounded by Kangan Block towards South , Sumbal Block towards South , Ganderbal Block towards South , Lar Block towards west . Bandipore , Srinagar , Sopore , Baramula are the near by Cities to Kanzalwan. This Place is in the border of the Bandipora District and Ganderbal District. Ganderbal District Kangan is South towards this place . [1]

Dawar Bandipora is connected by road with other places in Jammu and Kashmir and India by the Kanzalawn-Dawar Road and Bandipora-Gurez Road.

History

The ancient capital of the Dards, Dawar, is located in the Gurez Valley and is an important archaeological site. Other archaeological sites of importance in the valley include Kanzalwan, where the last council of Buddhism is believed to have been held and, further downstream, the ruins of the ancient Sharda University are preserved along the Kishenganga/Neelum River.
