Khejaria Bhoop (खेजडिया भूप) is an ancient historical Buddhist village in Sitamau tahsil of Mandsaur district in Madhya Pradesh.

Location

It is situated at a distance of 146 km from Mandsaur and 40 km from Dharmrajeshwar. PIN: 469964. Khejdiyabhop village is located in Suwasara Tehsil of Mandsaur district in Madhya Pradesh, India. It is situated 14km away from sub-district headquarter Suwasra and 79km away from district headquarter Mandsaur. As per 2009 stats, Devpura Bamni is the gram panchayat of Khejdiyabhop village. The total geographical area of village is 783.9 hectares. Khejdiyabhop has a total population of 684 peoples. There are about 143 houses in Khejdiyabhop village. Suwasara is nearest town to Khejdiyabhop which is approximately 14km away. [1]

History

It is the site of 28 Buddhist caves, now being deteriorated due to no maintenance. [2]

खोजड़िया भोप

विजयेन्द्र कुमार माथुर[3] ने लेख किया है ...खोजड़िया भोप (म.प्र.) AS, p.258) पूर्व मध्यकालीन इमारतों के अवशेषों के लिए यह स्थान उल्लेखनीय है. बौद्ध मंदिर के अवशेषों से 7वीं-9वीं सदी में बौद्ध धर्म के ह्नास की स्पष्ट सूचना मिलती है.

बौद्ध गुफाएं

खेजडिया भूप स्थित गुफाएं बौद्ध गुफाएं हैं, जहाँ भिक्षुओं के लिए आवास गृह, चैत्य एवं स्तूप हैं. ये गुफाएं बौद्ध धर्म की सांस्कृतिक गाथा को व्यक्त कर रही हैं. इन गुफाओं को स्थानीय लोग ओरिया (रहने का स्थान) कहते हैं. इसलिए स्थानीय लोग इसको 'ओरिया वालो खिजदिया' कहते हैं. यहाँ 28 गुफा हैं. ये स्तम्भ अलंकरण विहीन हैं. इस क्षेत्र में गणेश मगर व धनखेडी में भी गुफाएं हैं. देखरेख के अभाव में क्षरणशील अवस्था में हैं.
