This gotra started after Naga named Kuthara (कुठर). [3]

- Kuthar (कुठार) (Jat clan) → Fort of Kuthara (कुठारा किला). Nachane-Ki-Talai Stone Inscriptions of Vyaghradeva[4] was found lying on the ground outside the Fort of Kuthara near the village Nachne-ki-talai.
History
Deorkothar (देउर कोठार) (Deur Kothar) is a location of archaeological importance in Madhya Pradesh. It is known for its Buddhist stupas and was discovered in 1982.
Adi Parva, Mahabharata/Mahabharata Book I Chapter 57 tells Names of all those Nagas that fell into the fire of the snake-sacrifice. Pingalaka is mentioned in shloka 14 as Nagas of race of Dhritarashtra.
